Drinking  for me was always a way to have fun and socialize- doesn't everyone?

I thought I was a normal drinker; a drink after work to unwind, and lots  more drinks on the weekend to "blow off steam."

I thought a drink relieved the stress and the aches and pains from  

A couple drinks made me feel funnier, more confident and able to enjoy 

any social event to the fullest.  

Craft beer became a staple of every meal and endless cocktails at

every get together with friends and family.  

I believed what I was being sold (and told) by the alcohol industry...Drinking is sophisticated, cool, relaxing and "in moderation"...heart healthy. 

For a while drinking was fun. 

Until it wasn't. 

Waking up hungover wasn't fun. Promising myself, no drinks tonight and then giving in time after time, wasn't fun. 

Not remembering the previous evenings events, wasn't fun. 

My once satisfying career as a letter carrier, delivering mail to my customers slowly became a burden - that wasn't fun. 

 Having my husband, family and friends both irritated and worried for me for whatever it was I had done the night before was the least fun of all. 

When I confided to a friend in 2018 that I was questioning my relationship with alcohol, she gave me a copy of "This Naked Mind" and everything changed.
